Glucose Meter Details
The Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter comes with a "wide-mouth" test strip for 97% accuracy on the first test. By Roche Diagnostics, the Accu-Chek Aviva comes with 198 auto-checks for preventative and detection of unreliable results. The Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter requires a small blood sample of 0.6µL showing results within 5 seconds with storage of 500 results. You can monitor and download these results to your home computer. The Aviva also offers AST (alternate site testing).
The Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter is part of the first complete system to receive the Arthritis Foundation's Ease-Of-Use Commendation. This was also found in independent lab testing to help people living with arthritis, check their blood sugar levels easily. This is also a benefit for those with dexterity issues. With the added accuracy of the test results, it can prevent added re-taking of tests that can already be a hassle. This is due to the Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter having 8 electrodes per test strip that communicate with the glucose meter. The Aviva offers alternate site testing (AST), but we recommend consulting your healthcare professional about proper testing for your type of diabetes and so they understand your test results when brought in. This is because alternate site testing can give less accurate and/or different results than your typical finger testing. You can also test on the finger pads, as side testing is not necessary with such a small lancet.
How To Test With the Accu-Chek Aviva Glucose Meter
Something Roche Diagnostics is proud of about their Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter, is that in a study, 97% of the testers fill on the very first try. So this should be easy for most of you.
To take your first test, you simply place the test strip into the glucose meter. This should display your code. Match the code with number on your test strip bottle. These have to be the same test strips, that is why you never place test strips in any other bottle other than the one they came in. Once the blood sample icon is displayed on your Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter, you are ready to test. Using the lancing device, take a sample in the location you and your health care expert (typically your finger tip) have agreed is the best for your diabetes. Apply that sample to your Accu-Chek test strip on the front edge (yellow window). The Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter will display on the screen a flashing hourglass as the sample is absorbed. Once complete, your glucose meter will display the test results. To learn more, go to Accu-Chek Aviva Meter.

The Best Glucose Meter of 2012
I am a picky customer and typically go through a couple glucose meters a year. After going through just about every meter on the market, I decided to get the popular Aviva glucose meter to see what all the hype was about. I stayed away originally because of a once (many years ago) bad experience with the manufacturer. Well, my opinion has changed significantly. I ended up getting an offer through ADS (the company with the green gumby looking guy)and I might have just found a meter I can live with. There is not one negative thing I can find with the Aviva Meter. Everything that is a standard feature seems to be faster and easier. Transitions into each step is as smooth as possible with no lag or rough steps in the process. With the great product and good service offered for Aviva Test Strips, I believe I am a new customer for life.
Aviva Glucose Meter
After two weeks of testing I am ready to share my experience with the Accu-Chek Aviva glucose meter. I find this meter is really easy to use and operates really fast when it comes to the programming inside the glucose meter. My last meter would really lag every-time I tried to go to the next feature. The aviva meter also has a good management system and seems to be really accurate. I typically finish my testing much faster with the Aviva and believe the Aviva Test Strips are helpful because of their larger wide mouth design.
Really good Glucose Meter and Test Strips
I have been happy with the aviva meter because of the accuracy and how easy the test strips are to handle. I was given the choice between the Compact Plus and the Aviva. A friend of mine ended up getting the Compact Plus and loves it, so I can not say anything bad about that one, but I am very happy I chose the aviva meter.
I just got my Accu-Chek Aviva in the mail and love it!
My Accu-Chek Aviva came in the mail yesterday and I am really loving this meter more than any other glucose meter I have owned. I had placed my thought in what meter to get and it narrowed down to the Aviva or the Accu-Chek Compact Plus Glucose Meter. With the fact that the Aviva is manufactured in the USA, I chose this meter. I was only looking at the Compact Plus for the test strip drum, but after I have used the Aviva, using the strips is way easier than any other meter I have owned, so still a vast improvement. I would also like to recommend the website http://www.accuchekavivameter.com, as this is the site that really sold me on the meter and I ordered through. The service through them has been outstanding.
I have not had enough tests to prove for myself, but it looks as though the test strips have fewer errors and therefore will save money in the long run. That was the big seller for me. I hated how I would go through two or three test strips in one sit down with my past glucose meter. I want it all, the best glucose meter and low costs and I believe the Accu-Chek aviva meter offers this.
Aviva is a good quality Blood Glucose Meter
I ended up getting the Aviva glucose meter because of the so many great reviews here and other sites and wanted to thank you guys for the advice. Anyone in the market for a glucose meter should really consider the Accu-Chek Aviva. I am a fairly picky person, I honestly can not find anything wrong with this meter and highly recommend it to any diabetic looking for a new meter. -S
